Bomberger's Distillery Small Batch Declaration Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 108 Proof

A sumptuous, deeply layered bourbon with gorgeous aromas of black cherry, Morello cherry and roasted pecans, followed by butter toffee, dark chocolate, vanilla bean and warm baking spices. There’s plenty of oak here, but it comes across as polished and aromatic rather than simply woody, with intriguing hints of cocoa powder, leather, spearmint and charred cedar developing with air. Full-bodied and wonderfully textured, with a silky concentration that belies the 108 proof. Rich cherry and molasses arrive first, followed by brown sugar, toasted nuts and toffee before increasingly savory layers of cinnamon, dark chocolate and seasoned oak take over. Powerful but beautifully composed. The finish is exceptionally persistent, moving from sweet cinnamon and chocolate toward dry oak, cocoa and lingering spice. A distinctive, luxurious bourbon in which unusual oak maturation genuinely adds complexity rather than becoming the story itself.
