A gorgeous and wonderfully aromatic vermouth with layers of bitter orange, dried cherries, rhubarb and candied citrus, together with cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg and fragrant alpine herbs. Hints of sandalwood, myrrh and rosemary emerge with air. Medium- to full-bodied and beautifully textured, with a luscious entry of ripe red fruit, burnt sugar and orange marmalade that quickly gives way to wormwood, cinchona and savory spices. There’s impressive tension between the sweetness and bitterness, with enough wine character and acidity underneath to keep everything vibrant. The finish is long and increasingly complex, showing bitter orange, dark cocoa, caramelized sugar, rosemary and a subtle balsamic, almost mentholated quality. Rich without becoming heavy and bitter without becoming austere. A superbly complete Vermouth di Torino. Drink chilled or use in a serious Manhattan or Negroni.
