GlenAllachie 11-Year-Old Palo Cortado Old Limited Edition Sherry Cask Speyside Single Malt Whisky

A beautifully layered and sophisticated Speyside malt with aromas of damson plum, black cherry and raisin, together with butterscotch, heather honey and crystallized ginger. There are fascinating notes of roasted almonds, orange peel and cinnamon underneath. Full-bodied and wonderfully textured, with toasted honeycomb, brambles and plum preserves spreading across the palate, followed by maraschino cherries, mocha, treacle and dark chocolate. What really distinguishes this is the dryness of the Palo Cortado, which cuts through the richness and keeps everything focused and energetic. Nutty and slightly oxidative toward the finish, with espresso, cocoa, dried citrus and warming baking spices. Long, structured and beautifully persistent. A serious sherried whisky with excellent tension between richness and dryness.
