Jean Grivot, Clos De Vougeot Grand Cru (2021)

Domaine Jean Grivot is a historic family-owned producer based in Vosne-Romané. The 2021 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a refined, beautifully perfumed expression of Clos de Vougeot from one of Vosne-Romanée’s great traditional estates. On the nose we get aromas of dark and red berries, violets, dried herbs, and subtle earthy chocolate or dark plum notes. While on the palate the 2021 vintage is broad but finely proportioned: juicy red cherry,raspberry, layered with rose petal, violet, lilac, fresh herbs, and a subtle forest-floor roses. With its moderate weight, bright acidity, and fine tannins; the wine has structure without harshness. We recommend pairing the 2021 with dishes featuring earthy mushrooms or black truffles , grilled duck breast, guinea fowl, beef tenderloin, veal with mushrooms, or truffled preparations. The wine’s bright acidity and restraints make it especially compatible with umami-rich, earthy dishes.
