A wonderfully inviting mezcal with aromas of roasted pineapple, ripe melon and cooked agave alongside sage, warm stone and subtle woodsmoke. Hints of green herbs, sea salt and cracked pepper emerge with air. Full-bodied and pleasantly oily at 45%, with a lovely sweet-and-savory tension. The Espadín provides ripe, generous agave fruit while the Cuishe brings a leaner vegetal and mineral character, giving the palate considerably more definition than the sweetness initially suggests. There’s grilled pineapple, green melon and roasted agave followed by sage, pepper, wet stone and a slightly saline quality. Smoke remains firmly in the background rather than dominating the spirit. The finish is clean and gently drying, with sweet agave, green herbs, minerals and lingering pepper. Expressive and unusually approachable, but with enough earthy complexity to remain interesting. An excellent introduction to artisanal mezcal that experienced drinkers won’t outgrow.
