An extraordinarily refined Talisker with gorgeous aromas of ripe pear, waxy red apple and white peach intertwined with sea spray, dried seaweed and distant bonfire smoke. Opens beautifully with air, revealing tropical fruit, cinder toffee, almond, cocoa nibs and old polished wood. Full-bodied yet remarkably graceful for 30 years of age, with a creamy, almost waxy texture. Sweet orchard and stone fruits arrive first before the unmistakable Talisker character takes control: sea salt, white pepper, smoldering peat and spicy oak. There’s tremendous tension between mature fruit and maritime salinity, with roasted hazelnut, vanilla and subtle cocoa developing toward the finish. The peat has become beautifully integrated—more glowing embers than roaring fire. Exceptionally long, warming and increasingly saline, leaving white pepper, cinnamon, ripe pear and fading beach-fire smoke. A majestic, contemplative Talisker in which three decades of maturation have refined the distillery character without erasing it.
