The Balvenie French Oak 16 Year Old is a vibrant single malt finished in casks that previously held wine from the French Charentes vineyards. After a family visit to the Charentes region in France, WGS Brand Ambassador Lorne Cousin brought a bottle of Pineau fortified wine back to Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE and the team and suggested they experiment with French Oak casks. French Oak casks, more specifically those that once held Red Pineau Wine, are quite rare and therefore seldom used in single malt production, adding to the uniqueness of this premium expression.
